Paul M. Hall of Hudson, Ohio, died Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center after a brief illness. He was 90 years old.
He was born January 19, 1932, in Akron, Ohio, to Paul M. Hall, Sr. and Eithel (Jackson) Hall, the oldest of 3 children. He grew up in Barberton, graduating from Barberton High School in 1950 and the University of Cincinnati in 1955, with a bachelor's degree in accounting. Following college, he attended Officer Candidate School and served in Navy Aviation in California and Japan until 1957. After his military service, he was employed as a CPA by Ernst & Young for his entire career, working in the Akron and Cleveland offices before becoming the Managing Partner at the Canton office. For 3 years before retiring in 1992, he was the senior American partner in the Showa-Ota office in Tokyo, Japan.
He married Nancy Ann Moore on October 3, 1959, in Barberton, Ohio. During their 62 years of marriage, they lived in Akron and Canton in Ohio; Tokyo, Japan; Naples, Florida and Hudson, Ohio. Together they travelled the world and created many beautiful memories and photos of their adventures.
Paul was an excellent musician and played the trombone in bands through high school and college. He always received the top scores at the annual state competitions and considered becoming a professional musician.
He enjoyed his profession and was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Beta Alpha Psi, the National Accounting Fraternity. His community service included the Akron City Club, the Akron-Canton Chapter of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Akron Association of Credit Management, the Akron School Board, Woodland United Methodist Church and the Rotary Club of Canton.
He was happiest spending time with his family, of whom he was very proud. He always loved attending whatever sporting or other events his kids or grandkids were doing.
Paul is predeceased by his sister, Eleanor. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hall of Hudson, Ohio; daughter Amy (Jack) Peacock of Powder Springs, Georgia; son David (AnnMarie) Hall of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; grandchildren Stephen Hall of Chicago, Illinois, Alexandra Hall of Columbus, Ohio, and Elizabeth Hall of St. Augustine, Florida; brother Don Hall of Canton, Ohio; and seven nieces and nephews and their families. His family will miss him dearly.
There will be a celebration of life at the Hudson United Methodist Church, 2670 Hudson Aurora Rd., Hudson, OH 44236 at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, followed by inurnment at Markillie Cemetery in Hudson.
