Paul John Kruder, 82, of Akron, Ohio and Boca Grande, Fla., passed away peacefully at his home in Florida on Friday, Jan. 2nd surrounded by his family.

He was born to the late Ernest and Francis Kruder, May 13th, 1926 in Amherst, New York. Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy for active duty in World War II at the age of 17. He served In the South Pacific with the Fleet Marines. Paul graduated in 1950 from the University of Buffalo with a B.S. degree in Economics and Finance Management.

He was hired by Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. as a financial manager and moved to Akron, Ohio where he met his future wife Susan Louise Bruggemeier. The Kruders lived in Liberia, West Africa for two years and returned to Akron where Paul worked for the Ferro Corporation and Mohawk Rubber Company as Comptroller.

In 1970, Paul founded Computerized Information Management Services, Inc. CIMS after the addendum to the Motor Vehicle Act of 1969. CIMS serves the international tire industry in the registration of highway tires and records 80% of replacement tires in today's market. Paul continued his active role as President of C1MS until his death.

Paul's commitment to the history and his love for Gasparilla Island lead to the purchase and renovation of the aging San Marco Theatre in the late 70's. The Theatre Building is currently thriving and home to P.J.'s Seagrille and The Grapevine Gift and Gourmet, both owned and operated by his family. His continued support of the local artists and heartfelt contributions to the community of Boca Grande leave a legacy for all.

Paul was an active member of Planned Parenthood and The Rotary Club of Akron, Ohio.

Paul was an avid reader, loved to document his travels with his passion for photography and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially, his grandchildren, John Paul, 12 and Abigail, 7.

Paul is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan B. Kruder; his daughter, Kathleen Kruder Turner James A.; and his grandchildren, John Paul Turner and Abigail S. Turner. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul John Kruder, two sisters and a brother.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. SATURDAY at the First Congregational Church of Akron, 292 E. Market St., with Dr. Jay Marshall Groat officiating. Private interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. A celebration of life service will be held in Boca Grande later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Rotary Camp, 4460 Rex Lake Dr., Akron, Ohio 44319 or to Planned Parenthood, 444 W. Exchange St., Akron, OH 44302 or a charity of choice.
