Paul G. Simmons, 85, died October 31, 2010.
Born in Amsterdam, Ohio, May 24, 1925, he resided in Bath Township for 56 years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he attended the University of Akron, Cincinnati College of Embalming and the National Foundation of Funeral Service Management School in Evanston, Ill.
Paul was a member of The Bath Church U.C.C. since 1955, Loyalty Lodge # 645 F&AM, Valley of Akron Consistory 32 degree, Yusef Khan Grotto, Old Time Athletes Association, life member Firestone Post #3383 V.F.W., the Military Order of the Cooties Pup Tent #3, past commander and quartermaster of the Sam Cole Chapter of the Last Mans Club and was an avid golfer and bowler. Paul was an embalmer and funeral director for The Billow Company retiring in 1986 with 39 years service.
He is survived by his wife, Lois A. Simmons; son, Charles G. Laura Simmons; daughter, Jan Raymond O'Connell; grandchildren, Kate, Kristin, Paul and Melissa; eight great-grandchildren; brother, William L. Beverly Mulrooney.
Services will be held 11 a.m. WEDNESDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Mark W. Frey officiating. Interment with Military Rites by Firestone Post #3383 VFW at Moore's Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home TUESDAY from 3 to 6 p.m.
