Paul William Swain

Paul William Swain answered, "When the roll was called up yonder", he was there 90 years old. He passed away June 18, 2018 at the Western Reserve Masonic Community in Medina. He was 90 years old.
Time just caught up with that old Marine, he was tired and ready to meet his loving Maker. He was born December 5, 1928 in Akron to Vaughn and Octa Swain. He has one dear sister Alice Jean Tait of Seville. He was always grateful for a wonderful childhood, friends and spoke of them often. He attended Pfifer Grade School and Kenmore High School. He also graduated from McKim Technical Institute as an electronic technician.
He worked at Sears for 25 years, on the road, covering 4 counties helping customers who became friends. He joined the Marine Corps when he was 18 and shipped overseas to Guam, Shanghai and Korea. He was in the Chosin Reservoir Conflict and helped in the rescue of 100,000 civilians. He was promoted to Sgt. In the field and served his country with courage and honor for 4 years.
Paul was a 32-degree Mason, a life member of VFW. He was a volunteer at Akron Children's Hospital for 18 years. He and his wife Donna helped paint the windows on the bridge by the hospital with all the favorite characters of the children passing through. Big kids, little kids and their families enjoyed the art work. Paul and his wife Donna Kulesza were married July 31,1976, blessed with 43 years of happiness, a match made in heaven.
He was predeceased by his parents Vaughn and Octa Swain; son, Mike Swain; niece, Brenda Tait; stepson, Joe Kulesza; brother in law, Harvey Hane and many friends.
Left to love and miss him is his loving wife, Donna Swain, Medina; son, Jeff Swain, Norton; daughter, Laurie Sanders, West Pueblo, Colorado; stepson, Mike Kulesza, Akron; stepdaughter, Tammie Kulesza, Stewart, Ohio; 8 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.
Paul was one of a kind, he was a loving, kind truly good man, strong of character and purpose, he was a wonderful husband, father, friend, someone you could count on and know he would be there always. He would help anyone and everyone. Paul had a loving, giving heart and soul.
Funeral services will be held TUESDAY, June 26, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with the Rev. John Detwiler officiating. Visiting hours will be MONDAY, June 25, from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7:30 P.M. Inurnment will take place on TUESDAY, July 3, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, 44273. Memorials may be made to Akron Children's Hospital, One Perkins Square, Akron 44308. (Billow Fairlawn Chapel)
