Pauline "Polly" F. Thornburg, born October 2, 1921, died January 17, 2014.
Pauline was a life resident of Akron, Ohio and a member of The Chapel. She graduated from East High School and was employed as secretary for Snyder Motor Freight, Akron Men's Club, Hamlin
Construction and Fairlawn Police and Fire. She was a member of several travel groups and enjoyed cruises, touring many foreign countries as well as the United States.
Polly was a devoted 60 plus year member of Billow Chapter #483, OES. She served as Worthy Matron In 1959 and 1962. Polly was the founder of the Chaplains Circle, served as historian, secretary and received several State of Ohio Grand Chapter appointments. Helping others was a significant part of her life. "We are never free from assisting Other's in need." Her goal in life was to live by the "Golden Rule" and "Love Serve One Another." Gal 6:13.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Matilda Jameson; and brother, Robert Jameson; loving husband of 47 years, John; and son, Robert Bruce. She is survived by her son, John Thornburg (Marj); and four grandchildren, John Thornburg (Rakell) of Tucson Arizona, Steven Thornburg of Papillion, Nebraska, Tina Thornburg-Pace (Shawn) of Luxembourg, Luxembourg, Traci Thornburg of Los Angeles, California; and four great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Cremation has taken place. Inurnment at Greenlawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
