Peggy Ann (Eckner) Scavuzzo, 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at her home in Bath Township Ohio, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey on August 9, 1934 Peggy grew up in and lived in North Plainfield before moving to Maryland, Pittsburg, Toledo, Glastonbury (Ct.) and finally Akron, becoming her home since 1973.
Peggy is survived by her adoring husband, Dr. Rudolph J. Scavuzzo, married a week shy of 60 years. Her legacy lives as a remarkable mother to ten children and also includes deep affection to all ten spouses considered as sons and daughters: Sue (Dan) Kasinec, Steve (Jill) Scavuzzo, David (Angie) Scavuzzo, Richard (Sonija) Scavuzzo, Caroline Kellacky, D. Paul (Kim) Scavuzzo, John (Tracey) Scavuzzo, Robert (Kelley) Scavuzzo, Diane (Mike) Hibbard, and James (Colleen) Scavuzzo. Peggy also adored and will be remembered lovingly by her 28 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Judy (Tom) Kintigh; brother in law, Dr. Robert J (Jennifer) Scavuzzo and loving nieces and nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Margaret Eckner, and brother, Richard Eckner.
A memorial service will be held at Montrose Zion United Methodist Church, 565 N. Cleveland Massillon Road, Akron Ohio, on Saturday November 7, 2015 at 10:30am. Calling hours will be Friday, November 6, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Presiding clergy Reverend David Scavuzzo and Reverend Christopher Liberati.
