Dr. Philip C. McCauley, 88, passed away Sept. 4, 2014.
Born May 24, 1926 in Akron, he graduated in 1944 from Copley High School and 1950 from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry where he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honorary. Dr. McCauley practiced dentistry in Copley for 44 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Akron Dental Society where he served as president 1962-63, a member of the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association and the West Akron Optimist Club (president 1960). A lifetime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, he was an avid health and fitness enthusiast and photographer. A man with great ingenuity, he also had a sense of humor that he shared with everyone he met.
Preceded in death by wife, Edith; he is survived by children, Lyn McCauley Rankin, Lee (Mary) McCauley, Dr. Laurie McCauley (Dr. Jessy Grizzle); grandchildren, Amanda Rankin (Cory) Fosbrink, Joshua and Elijah Rankin, Erin (Mark) Lyons, Ryan and Evan McCauley; great grandchildren, Hanna and Cody Fosbrink and Brady and Declan Lyons; sisters-in-law, Beverly Bennett and Lois Seabolt; niece, Dr. Karen Riccio (Rev. Al Deblak) and nephew, Chris (Donna) Riccio.
Phil was very appreciative of the Copley Fire Department, Hospice of VNS, and all his friends at Chambrel.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. David Nevergall officiating. There are no calling hours.
