Phillip D'Avello, 88, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 17, 1924 and had lived his life in Akron. He attended West High School and worked 42 years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber.
Preceded in death by parents, Michael and Carmella D'Avello; brothers, Anthony and Henry; he leaves his devoted wife of 67 years, Alice; children, Christine (Richard) Gable, Phillip, and Thomas (Marianne); grandsons, Jeffrey (Kerry) and Michael Gable, John and Joseph D'Avello; great granddaughter, Samantha Gable; brothers, Joseph (Nancy) and Michael (Nancy); and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Phil enjoyed basketball, was an avid golfer and Cleveland Indians fan. He and Alice traveled extensively in the U.S. and enjoyed many weeks over the years at Myrtle Beach with dear friends.
We will miss his kind, patient, gentle nature and keen sense of humor. Our family thanks Hospice of Summa for their kindness and support.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev Mark J. Pruitt officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W.
