Phyllis Henry, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the age of 90 following a lengthy illness. She leaves her sons, Mitchell Henry and his wife Mary and Gregory Henry and his wife Jeanne; and many close friends. Phyllis was born to parents John and Sarah (Calbono) Postell on June 4, 1933 in Marion, Ohio. She grew up as the youngest of six and graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1951. After graduation she left her small town and moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she attended nursing school at City Hospital. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1955. She was very proud of this accomplishment and spent her career as a passionate care giver in various hospitals and extended care facilities. Shortly after her graduation from nursing school in 1955, she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Henry of Wickliffe, Ohio. They spent 61 happy years together prior to Ken’s passing in 2016. Phyllis was an avid golfer and spent many happy hours playing in leagues and with family. Her favorite activity, however, was spending time with her friends and family. Most recently, Phyllis was a resident at StoryPoint Medina in the Enhanced Living section. She made many friends here and will be missed by residents and staff.

A private family graveside service will be held. The family is grateful for condolences and, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bath Church, United of Christ.

Services in care of The Billow Funeral Homes & Crematory, Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N Miller Road  Akron, OH  44333.
