Piyush Vakil, 71, of Bath, passed away on January 7, 2013.
He was born in Ahmedabad, India on June 1, 1941. Piyush came to the U.S. in 1960 to study Chemical Engineering at UC Berkeley where he earned a Master's Degree. After a long career in the plastics industry, he retired from Newell Rubbermaid in 2005. A nationally renowned bridge player, avid traveler, oenophile, and gardener, Piyush loved spending time with his family.
Piyush was preceded in death by his father, Bachubhai and his brother, Himanshu. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his two sons, David (Carolee) Vakil and Stephen (Shannon) Vakil; mother, Rama Vakil; sister, Ela (Bharat) Bhimani; sister-in-law, Eileen Vakil; and step-daughters, Karen Duncan and Melissa (Dan) Weaver. He was a great "Poppi" to his five grandchildren.
No formal services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Stewart's Caring Place in Fairlawn or the Palliative Care Unit at Summa Akron City Hospital.
