Pui Hang "Helen" Hom, age 87, formerly of Rahway, New Jersey, on Friday December 10, 2021, passed away at Arbors Nursing Home in Fairlawn, Ohio, where she resided for 3 months. Loving mother of Henry Hom and his wife Mary, and Martha Hom; Treasured grandmother of David and his wife Jessica, Joseph, and Maria; Sister of Pei Yu Lee; Aunt to Wayne and Wells. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Kim Hong "Kenny" Hom.
Helen was born in Taishan, China, where she attended Peiying Middle School.  She married Kenny, also a graduate of Peiying, in 1959 in Hong Kong.  In 1966, she emigrated to the United States and lived in Rahway, New Jersey, where her husband was the co-owner of the Canton House Chinese Restaurant. In Rahway, she focused on raising her two children and making a home for her family.  She periodically worked at the Canton House.  Helen was a wealth of knowledge regarding herbal remedies, beneficial fungus, exercise, and passing on Mom Hom's life lessons. She was featured in an Ohio newspaper article about her regular walking routine at Akron General Wellness Center and was a member of the ASIA, Inc’s Lucky Seniors Group of Akron, Ohio. She was a fan of the New York Yankees and was glued to the TV on NFL Sundays.  She and Kenny retired to the bucolic town of Fairlawn, Ohio, in 2005. She enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, car rides with her family to Ohio's Amish Country, day trips to Jersey Shore points such as Asbury Park and Seaside Heights, and telling stories about her early days in China.
A private service was offered for Mrs. Hom at Billow Funeral Home in Fairlawn, Ohio, on December 16, 2021.
