Raymond “Ray” D Shelker Jr., 69, died July 2, 2021.
Born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on January 10th, 1952, to parents, Raymond and Blanche Shelker. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1969. He pursued a bachelor’s degree at The Ohio State University. He retired from Rice Oil Company as VP Administrator after thirty-three years of service.
Ray was dedicated to serving his community. He was a member and past president of Copley-Fairlawn Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Copley Community Emergency Response Team and delivered meals for the Copley Outreach Center. Ray spent many years on Friday nights keeping score for the Copley High School Football Team. He loved golfing and often watched the PGA golf tournaments. He loved playing fetch with his dogs every day at the pond.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Blanche “Bim”, father, Raymond, and sister, Nancy. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of forty-six years Patricia “Pat” (Tinney) of Copley; daughters, Julie Upole, Kathryn (TJ) Blevins, Amy (Jeffrey) Rack, and son, Matthew Shelker; grandchildren, Evan Upole, Kiera Blevins, Olivia and Owen Rack; and beloved dogs Haley and Molly.
A burial service for the immediate family will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park, Fairlawn, Ohio on Friday, July 9th. Friends may call Thursday, July 8th from 4-7 p.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller. Akron, OH 44333.
