Richard B. Derrig

Richard B. Derrig, 94, passed away January 20, 2017. He was born to Clyde and Estelle Derrig on December 8, 1922. Dick spent most of his life in Akron. He married Shirley Horn on July 26, 1947. Dick served his country in the Navy during WWII. He retired from Goodyear Aerospace. Dick was a very active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Trinitarians and served as an usher, past member of Church Council and Sunday School purchasing agent. He was a member of the Lighter Than Air Group. In his spare time Dick loved gardening and spending time with his family and church.

Preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, of 59 years; he will be deeply missed by his children, Joan Derrig, Margaret "Peggy" Derrig, Colleen (Ron) Pope, Denise (Jim) Garlow, Diane (John) Vardeman and Paul Derrig; grandchildren, Robert, Timothy, Correen, Kathleen, Justin and Joel; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 23 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 50. N Prospect St., Akron, OH 44304, with Pastor David Nevergall officiating. Interment will be at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Garden at a later date. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Memorial Contributions can be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
