Richard "Dick" Sutherland

January 16, 1930 — August 11, 2022

Richard "Dick" Sutherland , 92, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022. Dick was born in Portsmouth, Ohio. Dick was a Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict as an in flight instructor teaching pilots to fly. He was honorably discharged in 1952 as Airman First Class. Dick worked for AT&T for 33 years. Coached football at Copley High School. He founded Pic-Tur-This Video and filmed weddings and special events for 30 years. Dick was a member of the Akron Executives Assoc, Bath Business Assoc and the World War ll/Korean Roundtable. He loved Bath township and was affectionately known as the Mayor of Montrose. He was selected to fly to Washington DC through the Honor Flight Program. Dick was a big fan of OSU and the Cleveland Browns and was a very active member of Montrose Zion United Methodist Church. Dick and Bev were married almost 60 years and was a true gentleman. A man of Steel and Velvet.

Preceded in death by parents Jewell and Garnet, daughter Nancy, sister Joan, brother Raymond. Survived by Wife, Beverly; sons, Rick (Nikki), Barry (Caryn), Craig (Anita); grandchildren, Allison, Emily, Madison (Travis), Justin, Grace, Ella and great grandson, Easton.

Friends may call Tuesday, August 16 from 5 to 8 pm at Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd, Akron, Ohio. Private family burial on Wednesday, August 17 prior to church service. Service at Montrose Zion United Methodist Church, 565 N. Cleveland Massillon Rd., Akron, Ohio on Wednesday, August 17 at 11 am. Memorials may be made to St. Jude, Open M and MZUM.
