Richard Rehn Heisel passed away on Monday, December 17th after a sudden and valiant battle stemming from a protracted and debilitating disease.
Born in Long Branch, NJ on February 26, 1938 to the late Robert and Patricia Heisel, "Dick" grew up on the Jersey shore with a deep love of the beach and the oceana�"something he shared with all he knew. An entrepreneur and a businessman, he graduated from Lafayette University in 1961 with baccalaureate degrees in Business and Philosophy. He met and married Barbara Lee Davenport in Philadelphia, PA in 1963 and had two children. A loving husband, devoted father, and doting grandfather, Dick was with his wife and children when he went to meet the Lord.
He is survived by his twin sister, Nancy Barrows; his loving wife, Barbara; his daughter, Jennifer Heisel (Andrew) Mangano; his son, Alan David (Leigh) Heisel; granddaughters, Nicolette Mangano, Alex Mangano, and Alysia Heisel; grandson, Joshua Heisel; and the countless children and adults whose lives he touched. This kind, generous, and loving man will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29th at the Montrose Zion United Methodist Church, 565 N. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Akron, OH 44333. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org). (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
