Richard R. Kesti, age 85, died Saturday, November 30, 2013.
Born October 30, 1928 in Hancock, Michigan, he was the son of Matt and Jennie (Alatalo) Kesti. He graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean War at the Redstone Arsenal Missile Program in Huntsville, Alabama. He came to Akron in 1956 working with Sinclair Collins/ Schrader-Bellows, division of Parker Hannifin until he retired in 1993.
Richard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty; five children: Sue Kesti (Dan Logan), Lida Lind (Rick), Matt Kesti, Martha Townsend (Jeff), and Ruth Grimmett (Michael); grandchildren Micah Townsend, Trevor Lind,and Matthew and Megan Grimmett; brothers Harold and Fred Kesti; sister Edith Isaacson; numerous nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed camping, golf, gardening, hunting, cribbage, and telling stories. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served several terms on council.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 11:00AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 2726 W. Market St., Akron 44333 where friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
