Richard "Dick" Moore
Richard "Dick" Moore, former senior vice president of Akron General Medical Center and doting father of four daughters, died peacefully of cancer Wednesday evening, surrounded by his loving family at the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service. He was 66.
A native of Racine, WI, Moore served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning the Bronze Star, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star, and the Army Commendation Medal. In Akron, he was known for his charisma, charming smile and good humor. He was a constant in his daughters' lives and loved cruising the Portage Lakes on his pontoon boat, Turn the Page.
The son of the late Allen and Edith Moore of Racine, Wis., Moore is survived by daughters, Courtney, Meredith, Kaleigh, and Emily; grandson, Mason; sister, Kathleen, of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Allen, of Las Cruces, NM; and life-long friend, Brenda Moore. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to his close friend, Dan McShane for his support during the last years.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with a funeral service held immediately after with Dr. Donard M. Engle officiating.
