Richard G. Sengpiel, Sr., 78, died September 13, 2013.
Born in Akron, he was a proud graduate of South High School and Kent State University. Richard was part of the R.O.T.C. at Kent and served as a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army Infantry. Initially he was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, but in 1962 he founded Supersonic Car Wash and Detail Center in Cuyahoga Falls and later Supersonic Yo-Yo Promotions . He also co-founded S & S Chemical Co. Richard was passionate in following football and had a deep love for animals.
Preceded in death by his parents, Glen H. and Dorothy C. Sengpiel; he is survived by his children, Richard Sengpiel, Jr. (Judy Kraut); Martha Cromleigh (Robert) and William Sengpiel (Heidi); grandchildren, Kyle, Kelly and Samantha Sengpiel; Isabella and Danny Cromleigh and Landon Sengpiel; brother, Timothy Sengpiel (Penny); as well as many special friends, two and four legged.
At his request, cremation will take place. Family and friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. TUESDAY at West Hill Baptist Church, 605 Revere Rd., where a memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to One of a Kind Pets, 1929 W.
