Richard "Dick" Hohlt Carter

Mr. Richard Hohlt “Dick” Carter , age 79 of Griffin, Georgia, formally of Kent, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Brightmoor Hospice.  Dick was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 14, 1944.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Laten Carter and Minnie Rhea Hohlt Carter; and brother, Robert Carter.

Dick married his high school sweetheart, Barb, on August 27, 1966. Dick graduated from West Chester State College in Pennsylvania in 1967.  He moved to Kent, Ohio, in 1970 where he lived for 42 years.  During that time, Dick was President of Transystems, a member of Kent Jaycees, President of the Kent Chamber of Commerce, and President of Kent Rotary. He received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, a Rotary service award, and was a member of the Rotary Quartet.

Dick enjoyed SCCA car racing and boating at Berlin Lake, where he spent his summers. He was an avid reader and loved solving crossword puzzles. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren sing, perform, and play sports.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Klinges Carter; daughter and son in law, Beth and Jeffrey Ginther; sons and daughter in laws, R. Mark and Lauri Carter, and Matthew and Rachel Carter; grandchildren, Maeve Carter, Scout Carter, Andrew Ginther, Jackson Ginther, Mallory Carter; sisters, Becca Modrell, E. Jane Carter, Amy Poche`; Aunt Jane Harris, sister of the late Minnie Rhea Carter.

The family will welcome friends from 2-4 P.M. on WEDNESDAY June 28, 2023 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 West Main Street Kent, OH 44240, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 4 P.M. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in Griffin, GA.
