Robert T. "Bob" Allison, 81, passed away December 17, 2012.
Bob was born and raised in Akron. He went to King School and attended high school at McCallie in Chattanooga, Tenn. Bob was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, based out of Formosa, having served on the U.S.S. Bradford. After his service in the Navy, Bob returned to Akron where he settled-down, married Jane, and raised their family just a few blocks away from where he had grown-up. He earned his Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at Akron University and enjoyed a diverse and friend-filled career as an electrical engineer/inventor in the Akron area. Bob designed the communications system for the Egyptian Navy as well as the system which brought lights to the Goodyear Blimps. He also started his own computer company in the late 1960s, SDI, Systems Data Incorporated.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Jane Allison; he is survived by his daughter, Lisa Allison Kochheiser of Bowling Green; son, Robert (Jenny) of Akron, twin daughters, Laurel (Mike) Qualls of Enumclaw, Wash. and Louise (Brian) Isroff of Solon; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Peter Clinton (Jackie) Allison; devoted friends, Harold and Sis Matney.
A memorial service will be held Noon FRIDAY in the Chapel of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., with Rev. Amjad Samuel officiating. Inurnment will be in the Church Memorial Garden. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
