Robert M Castanaro

Robert M. Castanaro, 64, of Barberton, Ohio passed away December 22, 2016 after a long illness.
Preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Hatch) and parents, Jennie and Philip Castanaro; he is survived by his sister, Martha Jean (Blaine) Hite; nephews, Tony and Brian DeLuca; step¬daughter, Elizabeth Romans (Jose) Ramon and grandchildren, Luke and Violet; step-son, Michael (Bonnie) Romans and grandchildren, Deven and Hailey. He is also survived by caregiver and friend, Kallie Sickles; mother-in-law, Jane Hatch; brother-in-law, Tom (Janice) Hatch; sister-in-law, Susie and Roy Mook; best friends, Dr. Tim and Sylvia Newman, Dr. Lynn and Pat DeFreest, Dr. Robert Scarcella, the LaRocca cousins, Lee Alexander and many friends.

Bob began his career in surgery at Akron General Medical Center and moved on to Barberton Citizens Hospital where he retired after 35 plus years of service. He was Regional Director of Surgical Services (which included Wadsworth Hospital), Pain Management, Endoscopy, Wound Care, and Outpatient Clinic. He was very skilled with computers and was a past president of R-Base Programming Group.
Bob's love of music gave him the opportunity to perform in "Docs Who Rock" with Dr. Newman's band "Sound Advice". Bob was a fun guy and was great at being master of ceremonies at several venues.
The joy of his life was his wife and his granddaughter, Deven, who lived with Bob and Nancy for three years. The man who was never going to have animals, bought Deven a dog!

Calling hours will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Memorial service will be 11a.m. Monday, January 2, 2017 at Southwest Church of Christ, 516 33rd Street, Barberton with Pastor Nathan Robinson officiating.
