Robert D. Juve, 97, died November 12, 2014, peacefully at Rockynol, Akron, Ohio.
A lifetime resident of the Akron area, except for his college years, he was an active member of the Copley United Methodist Church, where he served on numerous committees. A graduate of Buchtel High School and Purdue University, where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi chapter. He spent eleven years in synthetic rubber research and 29 years in tire manufacturing. After his retirement as technical director of the Mohawk Rubber Company in 1969, Bob was a professional consultant for twelve years. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed making fine furniture for his home. At age 70 he took on a new hobby of woodcarving of hummingbirds, mallard ducks, geese and other wild fowl that he captured in wood. Bob enjoyed frequent visits to his children and grandchildren in Wyoming and California, especially when he could combine a visit with a fishing trip.
Mr. Juve was preceded in death by his wife Helen V. Juve and two brothers and one sister. His companion of ten year after Helen's death, Virginia Carrell, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Jenifer and Bob Hemstead of Simi Valley, California; Kristina and Robert Klinkosh of Sheridan, Wyoming; Robert , Jr. and Eddie Juve of Torrington, WY; grandchildren Amanda (Max) Morris, Shane (Ashley) Klinkosh, Jim Garver and Jacob Bury; great-grandchildren Monty, Helen Mae and Ike Morris, Hayden and Kyzer Garver; many nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, 20 November 2014 at the Copley United Methodist Church, with Rev. Becki Bowan Verbridge officiating. Friends may call at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Wednesday, 19 November 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. Inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Copley United Methodist Church, 1518 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Copley, 44321.
