Robert E. Linder, 91, passed away November 11, 2013.
Robert was born in Bath, Ohio on February 5, 1922 and graduated from Buchtel High School and The University of Akron. During World War II, he served in the US Army as an Infantry Captain in the US, the Philippines and The Occupation of Japan. After his return to Akron, he resumed his career at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company where he held several management positions and retired as Assistant Treasurer in 1973. His second career took him to Imperial Wall covering where he served as Vice President and President. During his tenure, Imperial became the largest manufacturer of wall coverings in the world. He retired in1987.
Always a people person, his interests included enjoying family and friends. Bob was the ultimate Cleveland Indians fan. He enjoyed golf, bridge, and a good party. Fishing trips featured his "famous" shore breakfasts and dinners. He loved holidays and cold winter nights next to a roaring i�re in his i�replace. Phyllis and Bob traveled the US, Canada and internationally. Bob loved his years in Bath where he was a member of the Bath United Church of Christ.
Robert is survived by loving his wife of 71 years, Phyllis; sister, Jean; son, Thomas of Seattle; and daughters, Mary (Edward) Sogan of Hudson OH, Patricia (Mark) Seal of Atlanta GA , Sally (Jeffrey) Rogers of Basking Ridge, NJ; grandchildren, Steve (Sarah) Sogan, Beth (John) Ginther, Jeff (Beth) Seal, Michael Seal, Katie Seal, Sarah (Jeff) Nassof, Thomas (Melissa) Rogers, Scott Rogers, David (Kaoru) Linder; great grandchildren, Avery and Mary Sogan, Tyler and Gavin Ginther.
The family will welcome friends for a Celebration of His Life and Reception in the Community Room at Laurel Lake, 200 Laurel Lake Dr., Hudson OH 44236, on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of i�owers, donations may be sent to Crossroads Hospice of Northeast Ohio, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Suite E., Uniontown, OH 44685.
