Robert "Bob" Steele Mankin, 94, of Naples, Florida, died unexpectedly Saturday, September 28, 2013.

He moved to Naples in 1970 with his wife, Lucy, from his hometown of Akron, Ohio, where he was born September 22, 1919, to C.E. "Pete" Mankin and Helen Steele Mankin

Bob graduated from The University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-1946. In the Army he attended OCS and served as a 1st Lt. in the Adjutant General Department.In 1944, he married Lucille Denny, and they were happily married for 54 years until Lucy's death in 1998. Following his discharge from the Army, Bob became the co-owner of the Leslie Locke Manufacturing Company in Lodi, Ohio, a steel fabricating manufacturer, until the company was sold in 1970. Thereafter, Bob was involved from time to time in real estate development in the Naples and Gainesville areas.During his years in Akron, he was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church (serving as a Deacon and Trustee), a member of Board of the Akron General Medical Hospital, a Board member of the Stan Hywet Foundation, a member of the Board of the Akron Civic Theater (directing the renovation of the Lowes Theater), a member of the Akron Downtown Rotary Club (named a Paul Harris Fellow), and a member of Portage Country Club from 1963 to 1999.During his years in Naples, Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Naples Yacht Club, the Royal Poinciana Golf Club, the Port Royal Club, and a lifetime member of The Conservancy of Naples.He was also a member of the Coral Beach & Tennis Club, Paget, Bermuda, and a co-producer of the Broadway musical, Dames at Sea

He is survived by children, David (Kathy) Mankin of Dublin, Ohio and Julie Mankin (Robert) Barnett of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Amy Mankin (Ryan) Gilmore of Columbus, Ohio, Andrew Mankin of Columbus, Ohio, and Katharine Ersly of Columbus, Ohio; and great-grandchildren, Will, Jake, and Levi.

Interment will be private at Rose Hill Burial Park in Akron, Ohio.
