Robert M. O'Herron, age 87, passed away July 25, 2013.
He was born on August 6, 1925 in Akron, Ohio. He attended David Hill Elementary School and Garfield High School, graduating in 1943. He served as a Combat Engineer in the Army in WWII, earning 3 Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Victory Medal. He graduated from the University of Akron in 1950. Bob married Joan Weaver on June 24, 1950. They had three children, Carolyn April, Timothy John, and Robin Patricia. He also enjoyed his six grandchildren. Bob loved playing an active role in their lives, celebrating their achievements with them. He always looked forward to breakfast at Wally's too.
Bob enjoyed traveling with Jo throughout Europe, Australia, Canada, and the USA. During high school he worked at BF Goodrich. In college he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He began his hospital career at City Hospital as their purchasing agent for seven years. At Akron General he was Vice President of General Services for 20 years. Finishing his career in the medical field at Children's Hospital, he was Vice President of Construction where he was responsible for the $75 million addition in the 1990's. He loved his interaction with the people in the hospital and they loved him too.
Bob was a faithful member of High Street Christian Church for over 60 years. He served as a trustee, elder, Sunday School Teacher, and choir member. He was also a former Trustee for Visiting Nurse Service, a Past President of Akron Rotary Club and sponsor of many foreign exchange students, a member of the Building committee for Sumner on Merriman, Trustee of the Blick Clinic, Trustee of Rotary Foundation, and a Children's Hospital volunteer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joan. He is survived by his children, April (Jim Csaszar) O'Herron , Tim (Terrie) O'Herron, and Robin (Gary) Rouse; grandchildren, Shannon, Jenny, and Bobby O'Herron, Meghan (Ryan) Mason, and Kathleen and MaryBeth Hobson. He also leaves nephews and nieces.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bath United Church of Christ, 3980 W. Bath Road, Akron, OH 44333 (PLEASE NOTE - Cleveland-Massillon Road will be closed at 10:30 a.m. for Bath Community Days. Please use North Hametown or Medina Line Roads off of Route 18, Medina Rd., to travel North to West Bath Rd., then travel east until you reach the church.)
