Robert H. Robinson of Fairlawn, Ohio passed away August 15, 2010 in the company of his family.
He was born on June 28, 1930 in York, Pa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Laurel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon G. and Ellen T. Robinson and his brother, Patrick. He is also survived by his loving children, Marcia Dan Williamson of Sugarland Texas, Charlie Susan and Robert W. Kerry of Hudson and Laurel A. Chris Dickinson of Cuyahoga Falls. He was adored by his loving grandchildren, Katie Peter Longoria, Julie Joe Edwards, Mark Williamson, Emily Matt Fabian, William Robinson, Sarah Dickinson, Patrick Dickinson, Robert 'Matt' Robinson, Jonathon 'Jack' Robinson and Kelly Robinson. A special joy in Robbie's life were his two great-grandchildren, Elena Longoria and Evelyn Fabian.
Robbie was a proud graduate of York Catholic High School in York, Pa., and of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. The culmination of his collegiate career was the victory of the University of Pennsylvania lightweight crew in the Thames Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta in 1951, in which Mr. Robinson was the coxswain.
Following college, Mr. Robinson began a distinguished and successful entrepreneurial career. He was the co-founder of General Die Casters in Peninsula, Ohio. Upon retirement from General Die Casters, he became a gentleman farmer and raised purebred Charolais cattle and beefalo on his farm in New Matamoras Ohio. While in retirement he founded Alloy Molded Products, Brandywine Development Co. and Hardware Components Inc., which continues to be operated by his son, Robert.
Following his wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service celebrating his life at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St. in Hudson on Saturday August 21 at 1 p.m. with the Rev's Kay Rackley and Brian Suntken officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fairlawn Post 349, 3420 S. Smith Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333, The Salvation Army, or the Hospice of Akron General Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
