Robert Hamrin Stasell
Robert Hamrin Stasell, beloved husband of Mary Jo Stasell; father of Jeffrey R. Stasell; father-in-law to Kathleen Hunt Stasell; and grandfather to Jeffrey Ryan Stasell and Robert James Stasell, died October 19, 2008.
He began his wonderful life's journey in Streator, Illinois on March 29, 1921 to parents, Mabel and Walter Stasell. He was preceded in death by brother, Carl Stasell, sister, Dr. Pherol Stasell, and grandson, Bobby Stasell.
Bob, as he was known to his many friends, served in the Army Air Corps as an officer in World War II. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Engineering. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where he worked primarily in research and development, serving in various engineering and management capacities throughout his career. Bob and Mary Jo were married on August 27, 1950 and were blessed to share 58 years of marriage.
Bob was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He belonged to the Turkeyfoot Island Club, the Fairlawn Country Club, the Columbus Athletic Club, and several professional organizations. He was also an avid participant in Akron Woman's City Club special events. He enjoyed traveling a great deal, photography, music, golf, beach activity and family activities.
The Stasell family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. James Phillips and Dr. William Bauman for the last fifteen years, and appreciation to the outstanding and caring medical staffs of Akron Summa 4 West and ICU for the exceptional and compassionate care provided.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 24th at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1250 W. Exchange St., with Pastor Derek Starr Redwine and Pastor Emeritus Dr. Harry W. Eberts officiating. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be private.
