Colonel Robert F. Thompson, 89, of Copley Township, passed away on February 5, 2018.
He was a lifetime resident of the Akron area and graduated from Akron North High School. He also received a degree from the University of Wisconsin. Bob is survived by and was married to Imogene (Sanders) for 51 years.
He was a 35 year veteran of the US Army and retired as a senior officer in the grade of Colonel. For six years he served as Installation Commander at Camp Perry, Ohio. His civilian career was as a sales executive for a variety of companies. When he retired he was Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing for W.T. Rogers Company of Madison, Wisconsin.
Bob was a member of the Masonic fraternity since age 21, was a member of Tadmor Shrine, and served on the Board of Shriners Hospital for Children-Erie, PA for 12 years, the last two as Chairman.
He is also survived by a son, Stephen (Liz) of Yelm, Washington; a daughter, Lorrie Bossart (Steven) of Copley, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Carl (Donna) Thompson of Seattle, Washington and Sloane and Sutton Bossart of Copley. He is also survived by sister in law, Patsye Schuelein; and nephew, Jeff Schuelein, both of Akron.

A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 9th in the chapel of St. Paul's Episcopal Church (corner of W. Market St. and Kenilworth Dr.), 1361 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313.
