Robert W. Clark
Robert W. Clark, 83, passed away on Oct. 8, 2008.

Born in Greeley, Colorado, Robert spent his formative years in southern California, graduating from USC in 1945 with a degree in mechanical engineering through the Navy's V-12 Officers Training Program. In 1946, Bob started working for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Los Angeles as a junior development engineer. Four years later he met his beloved wife, Margaret, through a blind date arranged by Bob's mother and Margaret's sister. They were married 58 years. After stints in Wichita, Kan., back to Los Angeles, and then to Dayton, Ohio, Bob was transferred to Akron in 1968 where, in 1974, he began working for Goodyear Aerospace Corp. There he advanced to become President and CEO in January of 1981. He was a courageous leader who viewed his job as a steward to the community, employing thousands.

Bob was a dedicated husband and father, a passionate golfer and traveler, a patron of music, and a generous giver to community and charitable organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, Matthew and John; daughters-in-law, Angela and Catherine; grand-daughters, Morgan, Mary, Emily, and Maureen; and sister, Marilynn. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the many he helped along the way.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, OCTOBER 18th at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with Rev. Dena Cleaver-Bartholomew officiating. A reception will follow. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Choir Fund, 1361 W. Market St., Akron 44313.
