Robert C Whittum died after a brief illness at Cleveland Clinic Hospice on June 17, 2023.
He was born May 14, 1937, in Ansonia, CT to Warren C Whittum and Doris Malhert, graduated from Mt Hermon School and Worcester Polytechnic Institute as a Civil Engineer. Following graduation, he went to work for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company on the “squad” and held many positions through the years, two of which were spent in Rome, Italy. He retired as a Principal Engineer of Tech Service after 38 years.
In retirement he kept busy serving in several volunteer positions, one as President and Board Member of the Bath Homeowners Association and one with the Soap Box Derby.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Debbie, parents, and sister Nancy Steen. He is survived by his wife Billie of 54 years, son James Whittum and his wife Rita Longworth, and granddaughters Emma and Samantha Whittum of Massachusetts.
Services will be held at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Akron, Ohio on SATURDAY July 15, 2023, at 1:00 PM. Following the service there will be a graveside service at Moore’s Cemetery in Bath, Ohio. Immediately following that there will be a reception back at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church.
