Robert O. Williamson, 90, passed away on October 24, 2008.

He was born and raised in Akron, and graduated from Kenmore High School. He graduated from Akron University in Civil Engineering in 1939. Robert married Gwen Lightner on August 19, 1939. He served as an officer in the US Army in Europe in WWII. Robert and Gwen resided in Barberton, were longtime members of First Lutheran Church in Barberton and later joined Faith Lutheran Church in Fairlawn when they moved to Bath. He is a former member of Akron City Club and Portage Country Club. He spent 50 years at Burger Iron Company, retiring as Chairman of the Board. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Gwen, his parents, Otto and Effie Williamson, and sisters, Margaret Buxton, Effie Schaar and Doris Kaswell. He is survived by sisters, Mildred Steiner and Helen Rech; sons, R. Kipp Karen of Doylestown, Joel Veronica of Rootstown; daughter, Marilyn Lyle Burgmann of South Carolina; grandchildren, R. Kirk Sandy Williamson, Kara James Bukowski, Mary Joseph Fantozzi, Lisa Thomas, Drew Williamson, Matthew Williamson; great-grandchildren, Kelby, Tyler, and Kendall Williamson, Lauren and Katherine Bukowski, and Kayleen Thomas.

Friends and family may call on TODAY, October 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jean Hansen officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
