Robert John Ross Watt
, age 86, passed with God’s grace on December 2, 2022.
Bob was born in Toronto, Canada to Alexander and Genevieve Watt. He attended St. Michaels’s College School in Toronto and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, playing hockey as a defenseman and earning a Master of Business Administration. A two-time Wolverine hockey captain, Bob made the All-American team, was inducted into the Dekers Blue Line Club Hall of Fame and the Michigauma senior men’s honorary, and he received an honorable mention as Michigan hockey’s best 50 players of all time. Bob was grateful for the opportunities that hockey brought him and loved sharing stories with family and friends.
While playing fast-pitch league softball during summer break in Timmins, Canada, Bob met Stella Georgette Chretien, who he affectionately called “Red” and “Babes.” They married in 1959 and together built a life first in Michigan where Bob worked for General Motors and then in Ohio, where they bought drive-thru businesses.
Bob was blessed by the many lifelong friends he met from college and during winters in Florida. He was an avid reader and sports fan and enjoyed playing euchre, golfing with Florida buddies, attending hockey reunions, and cruising with his sisters and brothers-in-law.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Stella, sister, Sue (Paul) Swain, and son-in-law, John Tortorella. He is survived by daughters, Michelle Tortorella and Sherri (Tom) Andersen, son, Bobby Watt; grandchildren, Alexa, Sarah, Thomas, and Alex (Alden); and sister, Mary Lou (Bob) Molton.
The Watt family thanks the staff at the Hudson Danbury Senior Living facility, the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center, and Bob’s loyal employees at the drive-thru businesses for their genuine care and support.
