Roger Jones passed away peacefully on June 2, 2022 at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center in Akron, Ohio with his beloved wife Pat by his side. Roger was born in Akron on March 30, 1941 to Paul L. and Mildred A (Baker) Jones. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1959, the class known as "the last of the Presidents."
Roger retired from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 2008 after 30 years of service. He was proud of his career at Goodyear, having started in the retail stores and later working as a field auditor, plant auditor and costing specialist. While at Goodyear, Roger pursued his college degree, graduating from the University of Akron in 1989 with a degree in accounting. He passed the CPA exam shortly thereafter. Reaching these milestones while working full-time and supporting a family was a testament to Roger's perseverance and energy.
Roger delighted in spending time with family and friends, and especially loved cheering from the stands while his grandchildren played sports. He never met a stranger and had a knack for making any event more fun. He could tell a joke better than anyone. He was also a man of faith, having converted to Catholicism in 1989.
Roger is survived by his dear wife of 53 years, Patricia L. Jones (Flanagan). Roger and Pat built a beautiful life together and have loved every minute of living in their country haven in Medina County.
Roger is also survived by his children, Paul Jones of California, Todd Jones (Missy) of Doylestown and Candice Jones Carlyon of Akron; grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Donovan, Gabrielle, Patric, Julianne, Rose, Lauren, and Gabriella; brother, Reese Jones of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Katy Flippo (Steve); brothers-in-law, Mike Flanagan (Colleen), Art Flanagan (Denise) and Terry Flanagan; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Helenjane (Lafferty) Jones and niece, Kim (Jones) Austin.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center in Akron, the nurses at Cleveland Clinic Medina General Hospital, the caregivers at Arden Courts memory care facility, and as well as friends and family who have provided help and support.
