Ronald D. Bowman

Ronald D. Bowman, age 85, passed away suddenly October 24, 2017 in Durham, NC.

Born in Somerset, PA in 1932, Ron lived most of his life in the Akron, Ohio area. Prior to moving to Durham in 2016, he was a Florida resident for nearly 10 years, having retired from a successful career with Western Reserve Life Assurance Co.

He was a long-time member of the Silver Lake Country Club and the Gyros organization. Ron fondly remembered his many friends from his involvement in both. He was particularly proud to have served in the US Army in Germany as part of the Military Police there.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Lois; Ron is survived by his wife, Karen of Durham, NC; son, Dan (Sally) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Alayne (Adam) and Eric (Tracey) and Karen's children, Shawn (Mike) and Brandon and their children. Ron also leaves his sister, Ruby of Ashtabula, Ohio; and his brother Dean, of Somerset, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 1 to 4 p.m. Interment at Stow Cemetery. Ron considered St. Jude's Children Hospital a special place and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Ron's name to St. Jude's.
