Ronald D. Glosser, 79, of Akron, joined the heavenly choir praising Christ on November 2, 2012. Born in Cones-ville, Ohio, he received his BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and later returned to his alma mater to serve many years as its Board Chairman. He received an MA from Rutgers School of Banking and an honorary Doctorate from Lindsay Wilson College.
Ron began his banking career with Cleveland Trust where he served from 1957 to 1968, before taking a position as Vice President and Senior Trust Officer with Goodyear Bank in Akron. He became President of Goodyear Bank in 1973 and remained in that position until 1982, at which time it was acquired by National City Corporation. His presidency continued with National City Bank, Akron until March 1989. A that time, Mr. Glosser accepted a position as President and CEO of both The Hershey Trust and M.S. Hershey Foundation in Hershey, Pennsylvania until his retirement in December 1995.
After his retirement from Hershey, Ron divided his time between Akron and LaQuinta, Calif., continuing his humanitarian works in both communities. His gifts of compassion and generosity crossed every ethnic, racial and economic boundary and his love for all people was perhaps his most defining characteristic.
His close association with Norman Vincent Peal sparked in Ron a positive spirit that was evident to all who know him. He was one of a kind.
