On June 8, 2011, Rose Marie Pursley, 80, was reunited with the love of her life, Donald L. Pursley 1924-1986. Born on March 15, 1931, Rose died after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of her daughter, Donna Lynn Suscinski Paul and her son, David Pursley Cheryl.
We are sure that she is already hard at work in her dream garden that never has any leaves to rake, even in autumn. Coco and Timmy her dogs are by her side and her ``Calfs' Cavs are on the radio beating Lebron to win their first NBA championship.
Despite her petite frame, Rose's personality made her larger than life. Her exceptional beauty and her feisty spirit made her unforgettable. Rose reluctantly agreed to allow her four grandchildren; Sarah Rose Suscinski, Esq. of Barre, Vermont, Benjamin Suscinski of Norton, Ohio, Maria Pursley of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Alyssa Pursley also of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to call her ``granny Rose', although she would have preferred to have been known as ``Rosie baby.' She adored her grandchildren and lavished each of them with love and affection. ``Not a cooking granny' she loved to take everyone out to restaurants, but only if they served wine. As the oldest of her grandchildren, Sarah Rose, formed an especially close bond with her granny during their weekly Friday night sleepovers, which included playing dress up, eating frozen pizza, painting their nails to match the holiday and watching Dallas in granny's enormous bed.
Rose loved working outside and meeting her best friend Marion Goodyear for lunch after getting their hair done. On the rare occasion that they weren't ``playing like hell,' Rose also loved watching the Browns, the Cavs and Tiger Woods. She loved her son-in-law, Paul, who was always surprising her with gifts for her snowman collection. She also loved her daughter-in-law, Cheryl, and always enjoyed their visits over wine at the vineyard near her home. Rose especially enjoyed her neighbors on Debbie Lane. Her passing has left a hole in the hearts of her friends and family that will never fully heal. We will miss and never forget our Rose!
Rose's family would like to thank all of Rose's neighbors, especially Aria and Charles, Lucas and his wife and their children especially Miss Rose's special friend and helper, Matthew, and Mike and Penni and the late, great Otis. They would also like to thank Norton's EMTs as well as the staff of Akron General Hospital and the hospice.
A private burial was held on June 11, 2011 at Rose Hill Burial Park. Her family followed the burial by raising glasses of boxed wine and ice cubes in her honor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, Ohio 44087.
