Russell W. Stone, 91, passed away peacefully April 18, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Retired from Akron Children's Services, Russ served in the Army during WWII and sang in the "Chapelleers" at George Patton's funeral. He was a soloist and choir director for many Akron area churches and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Akron. He loved family, children and rhubarb.
Left to lovingly cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Rev. Elizabeth Stone; children, Deb (Phil) Freeman, Laurrie (Denny) Iceman, Mark (Beth) Stone, Michele (Tim) Kimmel; grandchildren, Andrea (David) Hostetter, Ken Kimmel, Devin Kimmel; great grandchildren, Joshua and Jorgia Ann Hostetter.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at Christ United Methodist Church of Akron, 380 Mineola Ave., Akron, 44320. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron and from 12 to 1 pm on Tuesday at the church.
