Ruth E. Cornell

Ruth E. Cornell, 89, died May 6, 2013.

A life resident of Akron, she retired after 41 years service at the General Tire and Rubber Co. She was past president of the Greater Akron Legal Secretary's Association, Pilot Club of Akron, St. Paul's Needlework Guild and the Generettes.
Ruth directed choirs at St. Andrew's, St. John's and St. Paul's Episcopal Church and organized the St. Cecilia Girls Choir at St. Paul's. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Women's Board of Summa Health System Akron City Hospital with over 15,000 volunteer hours.

Preceded in death by brother, Donald H. Cornell; she is survived by nephew, Eugene Cornell; 3 great nieces; 1 great nephew; and special friends, Megan Shaw and John Wilkinson.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of St. Paul's Episcopal Church (corner of W. Market St. and Kenilworth Dr.) with Rev. Amjad Samuel officiating. Inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Women's Board of Summa Health System Memorial Research Fund, 525 E.
