Ruth E. Schmidt

Ruth E. Schmidt, 95, passed away August 30, 2017.

She was born in Salem, Ohio November 4, 1921 to Charles and Nellie Wilms Sheen.
After graduating from Greenford High School in 1940 she moved to Detroit, Michigan where she met and married her husband. They lived in the Detroit & Cleveland areas for a short time before they moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1948 where she lived on 24th St. for the past 69 years.

Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence and son, Charles. She was the fifth of eleven children and is survived by her sister, Hazel Nicholas; brothers, George and Charles Sheen; her 3 children, Allan (Linda) Schmidt, Marlene (Bob) Bruno, and Cynthia Schmidt; 8 grandchildren, Charles (Debbie) Schmidt, James Schmidt, Christine (Brian) Brantley, Michelle (Michael) Wood, James (Joyce) Farrell, Carol (Michael) Brindley, Jeanette Schmidt and Tara Bruno; 6 great grandchildren, Harrison, John, Michael, Megan, Brody and Audrey.

After raising her children, she was an Avon representative for over 25 years. She was active in TOPS for many years where she held the leader and recorder positions. She was a member of many card clubs and gardening clubs in the area. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, crocheting, and spending time in her garden where she cultivated many types of flowers. Her loving and caring spirit will remain in our hearts forever and she will be missed by many.


Services will be held 11 a.m. WEDNESDAY at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., Chaplain Chad Durfee officiating. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home TUESDAY from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial luncheon will be held immediately following interment.
