Ruth E Wigand

Ruth E. Wigand, age 105, of Akron, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2023.

She was born January 28, 1917; daughter of the late Richard J. and Gertrude Schmidt. Ruth graduated from Buchtel High School in 1934 and graduated from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ with her Bachelor of Music degree in 1942. She married her husband, John in 1943. Ruth was an accomplished soloist and her love of music was shared with children and adults. Ruth was proud to have volunteered 6,632.25 hours at Akron General.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Wigand; her parents; and her son, John R. Wigand.

She is survived by her children, Janet (Barry) Strock, Judith (the late Larry) Ramsier, and James (Christi Thomas) Wigand; grandchildren, Melissa (John), Sarah (Greg), Emilee, Rebekah (Seth), and Barak (Sarah); nine great grandchildren.

Memorial service will take place WEDNESDAY, January 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Fairlawn Lutheran Church, 3415 W. Market St., Fairlawn, OH 44333.
