Sally Lynn Thompson

March 9, 1933 — July 9, 2017

Our beloved mother, Sally Lynn (Bullis) Thompson, age 84, graduated to heaven on July 9, 2017, at her residence in Copley, Ohio.

Sally was born March 9, 1933, in Canton, Ohio, to Lloyd Martin and Linnie (White) Bullis.

Sally grew up in West Akron and graduated from Buchtel High School in 1951. On October 22, 1951, Sally eloped to Indiana with her high school sweetheart, Thomas T. Thompson, where they were married by Pastor O.K. Malone.

Sally and Tom lived in Akron, Portage Lakes and Fairlawn before moving to Sharon Center in 1965. In the 50 years they resided in Medina County, they owned and operated Acro Tool & Die in Akron, raised 6 daughters, built Colonial Hills Golf Course, Hart & Mather Guest House and White House Tree Farm.

Sally and Tom loved making trips to Williamsburg for the history and the food! They hosted several family gatherings there, including the blizzard of 2010 when everyone was snowed in and couldn't get a flight home!

Sally was gifted in art and painting. She took stenciling classes and began a small business with friend, Jill Reese, in the 1980s. Together they stenciled walls in many period homes and Hale Farm and Village.

Sally served others by volunteering and spent many hours working for Akron Children's Hospital, Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Clinic and The Salvation Army of Wadsworth.

Sally enjoyed studying the bible and attended Bible Study Fellowship in Wadsworth for many years. She was a past member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Wadsworth.

Sally was a fantastic cook and passed on her love of creating and eating great food to her daughters. She was gifted in singing, playing the piano, crossword puzzles and Sudoku, and found great satisfaction in gardening, decorating and Wednesday Night Family Dinners.

In 2015, Sally moved from the farm in Sharon Center to Concordia of Sumner in Copley, OH. She was a member of the Knitting Group, Bible Study, Sumner Singers and Crafting Group. She made great friends there and was loved by all, especially Karl and Ellen Hay.

Sally is survived by her loving daughters, Deborah Fox, Pamela Thielo, Marlene (Jack) Tramonte, Mary (James) Fulton, Sally Ohle (Tim Zuver) and Katherine (Terry) Ellis; grandchildren, Todd (Julie), Jason (Carolyn), Ryan, Paul, Lauren, Lynn, Dominic, Anne (Rik), Sarah (Jacob), Tom and Grace; great-grandchildren, Rafael, Lucia, Carmella, Lincoln, Jack, Colten, Alex and Reed; sister-in-law, Barbara Likosar; brother-in-law, Rudy Hesse and many nieces and nephews. Sally had a wonderful team of caregivers and we are so grateful for them. They cared for and loved our mother as if she was their own. Thank you to Kristin, Joey, Samantha, Keri, Alex, Nina and Teresa.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years Thomas, son Todd Rolland Thompson, sister Judy Hesse, son-in-law Rev. Paul Thielo, granddaughter Mary Tramonte and great-granddaughter Delaney Meglich.
