Sarah Diane Davis, 29, of Copley, Ohio passed away peacefully at home with her parents on July 9, 2021 after enduring—always smiling—through four years with brain tumors.
Sarah was born in Houston, Texas. She moved to the Akron area when she was 2. She graduated from Copley High School in 2010, where she played percussion in the band, qualified with the golf team for the State Championship tournament, and lettered four years on the track and field team where she broke and continues to hold the school record in the discus. She was a scholar, and graduated in the top 10 of her class. She received Copley’s annual Scholar Athlete Award. She earned her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at Brigham Young University, and was in her third year at The Ohio State College of Pharmacy when she was diagnosed and was forced to withdraw because of her treatments.
She is survived by her parents, Michael and Giselle Davis, siblings Rachel (Brad Evans) of South Portland, ME, Steven (Aryan) of Reynoldsburg, OH, Jacob (Courtney) of Provo, UT, Jared of Provo, UT, and Katherine of Provo, UT, nieces and nephews Adelaide and Isla Evans and Delta, Tobias, and Rulen Davis, grandparents Betty Jo Davis of Orem, Utah, Del and Diane Jones of Salt Lake City, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Duane Davis of Sundance, UT.
She had many close friends who, along with her family, will miss her fun and friendly manner with all, her generous instincts, her clever wit, her deep knowledge of all things significant or trivial, her engaging laughter, her tender attention, especially to children, and her drive to continually pursue self improvement and challenging accomplishments.
Sarah loved roller coasters, M&Ms, LEGOs, the color yellow, sunflowers, evening fires, unique restaurants, Superman and derivatives, Star Wars, Disney parks and movies, Gilmore Girls, and Harry Potter. She could be counted on to explain the plot or background of any book or movie when others got lost. You could occasionally overhear her singing the high notes of The Phantom of the Opera to herself.
She was well traveled, having been to all 50 US states and 33 countries in Europe, Africa, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. She has climbed on the pyramids of Egypt, floated down the Nile River, and sailed from the Atlantic to Pacific Oceans through the Panama Canal.
Sarah, we love you more than language can convey and wish you Godspeed on this best and final journey!
