Sarah "Jeannine" (Appleton) Pumphrey, 83, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, following long illnesses.
She was born in Minor Hill, Tennessee on October 2, 1928, and resided in Akron, Ohio since 1975. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, The Rev. David W. Pumphrey; by three children and their families, Katharine Pumphrey Knapp, D. William Pumphrey, Jr., and The Rev. Thomas C. Pumphrey; by six grandchildren; three sisters; numerous nieces and nephews. She is known by many friends for her deep faith in God, her devotion to her family and the support of her husband's life and ministry.
A memorial service will take place 10 a.m. SATURDAY at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Mark J. Pruitt officiating. There are no calling hours.
