Sibyl Pahline Billman

July 30, 1928 — February 7, 2011

Sibyl Pahline Billman, 82, died February 7, 2011 after a long illness.

Sibyl was born in Akron, the daughter of Otto Carl Pahline and Sybil Heald Pahline. She attended Old Trail School, Vassar College and Katherine Gibbs School in New York City. The friends she made in kindergarten at Old Trail remained her close friends throughout her life.

Sibyl was a member of the Junior League of Akron, the Women's Board of Akron General Medical Center, and Diggers & Weeders Garden Club. When her children were grown she worked as a travel agent; first with Neiman Travel and then Reid Creasey Travel.

Sibyl was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. in 1991, and is survived by son, James R.; daughter-in-law, DeAnne; daughter, Marian Robert Denton; and granddaughters, Erika and Charlotte.

While Alzheimer's took many of her precious memories, it could not touch her essential dignity; she was first and foremost a lady.

Cremation has taken place. We are honoring her desire for a private graveside service, officiated by her son-in-law Rev. Robert Denton of the Furnace Street Mission, laying her to rest with her husband Robert at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Also honoring her wishes, there will be no calling hours.

The family wishes to acknowledge the thoughtful care provided by Traditions on Bath Road and to Hospice of VNS for making her last days comfortable.

Should friends wish, donations in her honor may be given to the Alzheimer's Association , 1815 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313 or a charity of your choice. Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel
