Stephen D. Hardesty, age 64, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Thursday, September 3, 2009.
Stephen was born of John and Jean Hardesty in Zanesville, Ohio Aug. 31, 1945. He graduated from Zanesville H.S. class of 1963; Denison University 1967, and University of Akron School of Law 1973. Stephen served in Vietnam counseling wounded soldiers.
He and Patricia Fleming were married 29 years and have two daughters, Claire Tazudeen Wahid, 26, and Jean, 24. Stephen is survived by his one brother, Hunter Hardesty of Savannah, Ga., and many other relatives and friends.
Stephen was an attorney for over 35 years, and at one time, Board President of the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank; a member of various local law associations and Rotary Club of Akron. He enjoyed golf and his many friends throughout his life.
His family would like to give special thanks to staff at Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service and the Hospice Care Center for their care, support and guidance through this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place. Donations may be made to the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank.
