Steven Donald Wise, a cherished father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away on March 11, 2011, at the much too young age of 49.
Truly beloved, Steve was an active, lifetime member of Akron. He poured his heart into everything he could, touching as many lives as possible. He was born on November 9, 1961 to William D. and Mary Jo Young. He graduated from Firestone High School, Class of 1980, and continued on at the University of Akron to earn a Bachelor's Degree in English. From there, he gave his time, passion, and expertise to anyone and everyone. A Vice President of Investments at Wells Fargo Advisors, he had a rare ability to balance friendships and business. He also involved himself in many organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, Stan Hywet, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Old Trail, Western Reserve Academy, the Cleveland MetroParks, and many others. He was an avid outdoorsman, which can be witnessed through the various gardens he has nurtured, the trails he has walked, and his conservation efforts.
Steve was preceded in death by father, mother, and two siblings. He regrettingly leaves behind two children, Sarah and Drew; sister, Gail Don Kinzel; half-brother, William Wise, Jr.; aunts, Elizabeth John Dalton and Virginia Holshuh; nephew, David Christine Kinzel and family; as well as many others who loved him.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Mark J. Pruitt officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., Akron 44313 or the Boys and Girls Club of the Western Reserve, 889 Jonathan Ave., Akron 44306.
