Susan Carley Brinkman

Susan Carley Brinkman went to be with the Lord January 11, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Susie was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 18th, 1944 to Dorothy Daum Leingang and serviceman Arthur Carley. She graduated from Colonel White High School in 1962 and then attended Ohio University. She met the love of her life, Donald Brinkman, in high school at Colonel White and later would begin the first chapter of their love story. Don and Susie's marriage was a blessing to witness, and an inspiration to many. They shared 52 beautifully devoted years together. She was Don's "Dancing Queen".
Susie was a prolific reader, a passionate gardener, sheller, morel hunter, and she loved cooking for her family. She was a wonderful mother to her children showing unconditional love, guidance, patience, understanding, and so much more. Susie's grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she boasted often about the newest grandson due next month. Amongst her family members, Susie cherished her dogs and had a compassionate heart for animals. She loved traveling with Don and her dear friends. To Susie, her friends were family. She enjoyed dining and going to parties at Fairlawn Country Club.
Susie is survived by her loving husband, Donald; son, Scott (Shannon); granddaughter, Gracie (11 months), grandson, Aiden (11), grandson, Bradley Arthur (due in February); son, Christopher (Wendy); grandson, Preston (17); granddaughters, Eva (15) and Allison (12); grandson, Grant (9); sister, Sally Priske (Larry); niece, Amy Rizzo; brother-in-law, John Battelle (Julie).
Services will be held 11 a.m. WEDNESDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Friends may call TUESDAY from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pay It Forward for Pets, 2136 Yellow Creek Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
