Terry L. Smyers

Terry L. Smyers, Sr. passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024. Terry lived his life with compassion and quiet faith. His 81 years on this earth were filled with love of family and kindness towards all he met.

Born March 19, 1943, Terry graduated from Buchtel High School and then the University of Akron. He was a successful Accountant for many different firms. When his children were young, he was their Boy Scout leader sharing his love of camping, outdoors, and fishing with his boys. Terry was an avid toy train collector and a 52 year lifetime member of the TCA (Train Collectors Association). He could identify, repair, and value anything in this field. Not only did Terry have a love for toy trains but he also enjoyed live steam trains which led to his service alongside his father on the Cuyahoga Valley Line. He served in the ROTC and passed on that trait to his oldest son who served in the United States Navy. He was heavily involved in church and community.

Terry is survived by Kathy Smyers, his loving wife of 28 years, his children Terry Smyers Jr (Angie), Scott Smyers (Stacey), Karen Caggiano (Tim), Libby Abramovich (Donald Tuttle III), Gregory Abramovich (Tammy Hist) and grandchildren, Drew, Taylor, Rayne, Ty, Caleb, Sawyer and Ryker.

Terry is also survived by sister-in-law Judy Burger Ziefel (Dennis) and friends Jeff Borland, Bob Bologa, and Roger Hammond.

He was proceeded in death by his parents George and Sedara Smyers, first wife Carol Smyers (nee Burger) and daughter Tammy.

Visitation will be held Monday Nov 18, 2024 from 4pm through 7pm, at Billow Funeral Home, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333. Funeral service will be Tuesday Nov 19, 2024 at 11am and burial will take place following the service at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cleveland Clinic Hospice.
