Teruko "Terrie" Takahata , age 90, passed away on November 11, 2022 at the Village of St. Edwards at Fairlawn. Teruko was the beloved wife of the late Tsutomu Tee Takahata who proceeded her in death in 2012. They cherished their 62 years together and taught their family the true essence of love and commitment.
Teruko's greatest joy was her family and her life revolved around them.
She was the devoted mother to her four children and their spouses: Susan Spannbauer (Ray), Linda Takahata-Keller (Charles), Dean (Mary) and Naomi Kittel (Mark). She was exceptionally proud of her eight grandchildren; Brandon (Alex), Adam (Brittney), Zachary (Mariah), Randall (Kelley), Louis (Emily), Kimberly, Shannon and Taylor, and was so excited to be the loving great -grandmother to young Emersen, Isla, Benjamin and Sterling.
Teruko was born in San Diego, California to Fui (Kuge) and Kotaro Hosaka.
She is survived by her sister Nancy Tanaka and predeceased by her sisters Grace Yamahiro, Tsuru Fujimura and brother James Hosaka. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She was extremely talented and enjoyed crocheting, needle point crafts and sewing. Teruko was an accomplished seamstress and altered formalwear at a bridal shop. She also managed a prosthetic office for many years.
Teruko was unwavering in her constant positivity and loving manner. She believed in unconditional love, big smiles, kind words and constant hugs.
Teruko easily made anyone that was near her feel comfortable, valued and uplifted. Her lessons of kindness to others were felt by all that were in her presence. Teruko's impact on the lives of others are unmeasurable and she will be greatly missed.
Private family service with burial has taken place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
