Theodore C. Schaetzle

July 8, 1924 — August 7, 2010

Ted Schaetzle, 86, died on August 7, 2010.

Born in Baltimore, Md., he spent most of his life in Akron and in his later years at the Laurel Lake retirement community in Hudson.

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and served with the 15th Army Air Corps in Italy as a tail gunner on B24 Bombers. After the war, he worked for Moore North America for 36 years. Ted was an associate member of the Sisters of St. Dominic and former member of St. Vincent Church.

Dad loved our mother, trusted in God and loved us deeply. We will miss him.

He was preceded in death by our mother, Doris Miller Schaetzle and is survived by his children, Cory Strickler, Janine Dennis Strasser, Cathy Herd, Martha Dean Taucher, Theodore Schaetzle III, Stephen Rachel Schaetzle, Margaret Bob Goodman, Barbara Charlie Lenway, Andrew Mindi Schaetzle; 14 grandchildren, Brian Adamson, Laura Dan Sullivan, Stephanie Herd, Dean Laura Taucher, Jr., Patricia Eric Jansen, Adam Taucher, Taylor and Teddy Schaetzle, Stephen and Lauren Schaetzle, Jason, Emily, and Sarah Goodman, and Reid Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kelley Sullivan, Doris and David Taucher, and Madelyn and Owen Jansen.

Memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. WEDNESDAY at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 164 W. Market St., Akron 44303 with Father Joseph H. Kraker and Father Donald Cozzens co-celebrating. Private inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park with military honors. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
